Proto — Greek for “first” — is STILKIN’s debut album and the starting point of his recorded work. The 10-track release is an eclectic collection of original pop songs that reflect everyday contemporary life, from schoolyard power dynamics to modern relationships and life online.
Written, arranged and produced independently, Proto grew organically out of a local songwriting collective in the Blue Mountains and captures a period of exploration, experimentation and discovery. With its blend of raw storytelling, varied musical styles and rich instrumentation, the album introduces STILKIN’s interest in character, observation and narrative — themes that continue to evolve in later work.
