STILKIN is the solo project of Sydney-based songwriter and producer Steve Wilkins.
His piano-led pop/rock music is heavily influenced by progressive rock and pop artists of the 70s and 80s, blending theatrical elements with a rich, harmonic language and complex music textures to deliver thoughtful, narrative-driven stories through song.
Working independently from his home studio, STILKIN creates music that rewards close listening — balancing emotional restraint with moments of emotional intensity.
His latest album, DEFTERO, is out now!
'DEFTERO' is a cohesive artistic work in 2 parts - designed to be played LOUD.
'Side A' features a set of high energy pop/rock anthems exploring human connections and emotions. Its deeply personal.
'Side B' is more experimental and set within a surreal world of fandom, freaks and circus acts.

'Smooth' is an epic ballad anthem exploring what it is like living with anxiety — not as a dramatic moment, but as something managed quietly over time - and being seen by the ones you love.
"My little light is dying, with every skipping beat.
Until I feel you lying, right here next to me."
Inspired by yacht rock artists of the late 70s and early 80s, it features Michael McDonald-esque electric piano and clavichord grooves, a syncopated and driving bass synth groove and a killer alto sax solo climax.

'Waiting for Kate' explores what it truly means to be a Kate Bush fan - a special breed of people who are used to waiting decades between albums and whose devotion never waivers.
This makes you think: 'Is Kate late to everything?'
This song features guest vocalist Suzanne Spiteri who inherits the spirit of Kate.
